Temporary Emergency Shelter Forest Grove and Cornelius

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 1 person is interested

Be a part of ensuring our neighbors experiencing homelessness have a safe, welcoming, and compassionate place to sleep during the coldest months of the year.

As a Overnight Host you stay the full night (or half a night if you're splitting a position) in one of our two shelter sites, along with another volunteer or staff member you are ensuring the safety and security of our guests as they sleep. Overnight hosts are always in pairs, with one host staying the full 12 hour shift and the second position being able to be split between two people. Overnight Hosts alternate sleeping and being awake.
They serve as a part of the evening team to ensure guests needs are met to the best of our abilities and have support until about 10PM or later depending on the evening. They then are re-joined by the morning support team by 5:30AM and ensure guests leave for the day with as many of their needs met as we can.

Overnight hosts bridge the gap between our evening support and our morning support. They are never alone and have on site training as well as one-on-one conversation with shelter staff before taking their first shift. We rely on our volunteers to make our shelter possible. If Overnight Host doesn't sound like the right fit for you please contact us about other opportunities fgtempshelter@gmail.com or visit www.oldtownfg.com/shelter
