Volunteer With CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Camden County INC.
Are you looking for an opportunity to help a child in need?
Each year, thousands of children in Camden County are removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. The child is then placed under the custody of Child Protective Services, which may place them in a foster home or other facility. Through no fault of their own, these abused children have become a part of an overburdened child welfare system. This is where CASA comes in.
CASA volunteers are ordinary people who care about kids. CASA volunteers don't require any specific education. All they need is compassion, objectivity and a commitment to children. CASA volunteers work one-on-one with abused or neglected child, advocati ng for his or her best interest, making sure they are safe and well-cared for, are getting the services they need and are placed in a permanent, safe, nurturing home as quickly as possible.
Research has shown that children with CASA volunteers
Are half as likely to re-enter foster care
Are substantially less likely to spend time in long-term foster care
Are more likely to be adopted
Have more services ordered for them
Are more likely to have a consistent, responsible adult presence
Spend less time in foster care
Do better in school
Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age . If you would like to become a CASA volunteer, please call 856.361.7180 or email bl williams@casaofcamdencounty.org
