Spay and Neuter Kansas City - Families Better Together(tm) seeks a Volunteer Programs Assistant Intern to join our team. We welcome candidates from a variety of majors and backgrounds. All candidates must be motivated self-starters with previous related experience. If hired, candidates will work directly with the Volunteer Programs Manager on maintaining and increasing volunteer relations. Primary responsibilities will include supervision, development, and retention of volunteers, orientation, training, and special projects. Candidates also will have opportunities to gain further experience in volunteer program development, evaluation, and assessment. Spay and Neuter Kansas City is the only targeted spay/neuter program in the Greater Kansas City working to help all families in need regardless of financial means. Tasks relevant to this position, including, but not limited to:

  • Assist in creating new ideas for volunteer and intern programs development
  • Maintain agency guidelines for volunteers
  • Help maintain volunteer recruitment ads and online accounts
  • Assist with orientation meetings, open house events for potential volunteers, and one-on-one orientations
  • Assist with recognition and other volunteer event projects
  • Assist the Volunteer Program Manager in fielding questions, running reports, conducting assessments, and in training and development for all volunteer and intern programs

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have prior leadership experience through collegiate, professional and/or community organizations
  • Must demonstrate strong writing and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of the mission of the agency
  • Able to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines
