Unite To Fight CHD!

The Congenital Heart Walk is looking for Volunteer Recruitment Subcommittee members for the 2017 Walk on May 6th.

The Volunteer Recruitment Subcommittee identifies volunteer needs for the day of the 2017 Congenital Heart Walk and, with help from other committee members, recruits and trains the necessary number of volunteers.

The Congenital Heart Walk is an ongoing national effort between the Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA) and The Children’s Heart Foundation (CHF). We walk to honor and remember the millions who have been impacted by congenital heart disease (CHD).

The Congenital Heart Walk shows the nation how a team of inspired individuals can join together to make a difference. Funds raised will support the missions of both national nonprofit organizations who are uniting to fight CHD! Since 2010, CHW has raised more than $7 million in total. This will be the 7th Annual Congenital Heart Walk for Central Texas.

Mission Statement

The goal of The Children’s Heart Foundation is to bring health, hope and happiness to children impacted by congenital heart defects, the number one birth defect in the United States. We accomplish this goal by funding the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of congenital heart defects.

Description

In the United States, a child is born with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) every 15 minutes. Children undergo surgeries and sadly, some die every day from CHDs.

We need to understand what causes CHDs and to prevent them. We need to detect and diagnose CHDs as early as possible. While much progress has been made, we need to develop new treatments for CHDs so that children undergo fewer invasive surgeries and improve the long-term prognosis for children with CHDs.

We need your support to fund the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of CHDs in children.
