Promote youth literacy: multicultural book drive

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Project for Pride in Living (PPL)

Organize a book drive to collect new/lightly used, culturally relevant books for youth and families transitioning from homelessness. Help youth develop reading skills and a love for books by providing materials that engage their interests! Any quantity of books in the following list will be welcome and put to immediate use at one of our new housing sites in Minneapolis, St. Paul or Hopkins:

  • Culturally relevant books (African-American/African content/authors especially needed)
  • Historical books for a younger audience
  • Nature books - especially oceans and rain forests
  • Sports topics-football, basketball, soccer, women in sports
  • Recent books about careers
  • Fact books - Guinness book of world records, amazing facts, science, etc.
  • Comic books- including graphic novels, anime, and manga
For a list of suggested titles or to arrange to drop off a donation at our office in S. Minneapolis, please contact Maci Bekele (612-455-5119/maci.bekele@ppl-inc.org).
