We will meet on the beach close to Prospect street and Ocean front blvd. This is where we will be set up on the beach. We cleanup from 9-11 and we will be collecting data using our smartphones with the Ocean Conservancy app. If you have a smartphone and would like to collect data please download the app. Download here:
iPhone: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/clean-swell/id985692119?mt=8
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.oceanconservancy.cleanswell
If you don't have a smart phone or for any other reason do not want to collect data don't worry we need people who will just pick up trash for this event.
Volunteers under the age of 18 must bring a waiver signed by their parent/guardian. To download a waiver go to https://newportbeach.surfrider.org/beach-cleanups/

Mission Statement
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education
Description
Surfrider Strategic Initiatives
The core activities and campaigns that the Surfrider Foundation uses to protect our oceans, waves and beaches fall into the categories of Clean Water, Beach Access, Beach Preservation and Protecting Special Places. Through conservation like using a reusable shopping bag instead of a single use plastic bag and a thermos instead of a single use plastic cup or bottle we help reduce waste that inevitably ends up in a landfill or worse the ocean. Through Activism like sharing conservation programs with others, our mission grows and takes new life. Through Research like with our water test programs we keep knowledgeable about the current state of the beach and its health. Through education we make others aware of the important work that needs to be done in order to keep the Beaches healthy and accessible. It's not all about surfing. It's about keeping the environment healthy so that the surf will still be there for tomorrow.
