"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they have the heart" --Elizabeth Andrew
Did you know that every 2 minutes a woman is sexually assaulted? Or that 1 out of 4 females, and 1 out of 6 males will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime?
So what happens after the assault? What options are available to survivors?
Who will help them through the hospital procedure? Who will be there to answer the phone when they feel like they have noone to talk to?
If you are a caring, empathetic individual the answer is YOU!!! We need more volunteers to help us respond and care for victims of sexual assault in the Myrtle Beach/Georgetown area. If you are interested, we will host a 4 night training course with guest speakers ranging from law enforcement to trauma counselors to empower you to fight back against sexual assault.
If you decide to volunteer with us, your level of involvement is totally up to you! You decide how often you volunteer. To volunteer, visit www.victimtosurvivor.org and complete the application. You can also call the office at 843-448-3180 and ask to speak to Rachael Cox about volunteer opportunities. The required training to serve as an advocate will be held October 24th-October 27th.
