We are looking for dentists and oral surgeons to provide free emergency dental care (extractions) to homeless and other low-income people in our community. The goal is to relieve pain and infection for people who cannot afford to pay for care and to reduce the use of emergency rooms for toothaches during the covid pandemic.

Hours are 1:00 - 3:30 p.m., Tuesday - Thursday and 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Saturday.

We also need primary care doctors, nurse practitioners, and nurses to provide basic free care (for acute illnesses and minor injuries) to residents (children and adults) in our transitional housing shelter. Hours are Monday, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday - Thursday, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00.

Mission Statement

Sharing and Caring Hands is a compassionate response to the needs of the poor. We are set up to be a safety-net organization to help with whatever needs are not being met. This includes, but is not limited to, providing meals, clothing, showers, shelter, transportation, furniture, household goods, dental and medical care, rent help, and many other miscellaneous needs. Sharing and Caring Hands provides these services with dignity, while affirming God's love for all people regardless of their circumstances. We reaffirm the self-worth of each individual and want to assist that person in reaching his or her greatest potential. Sharing and Caring Hands is an extension of the community to the desperate needs of the poor and exists as a vehicle for volunteers to commit their time and resources toward making a difference in the lives of others. Sharing and Caring Hands stands as an emotional anchor and a beacon of hope to those who are alone, afraid, or in need.

Sharing and Caring Hands includes a large drop-in facility and a transitional housing shelter with 100 apartments for homeless families, a Teen Center and Children's Center, and an outdoor park and playground area. Sharing and Caring Hands is run by volunteers with few paid staff. We do not accept any government or United Way funding and rely entirely on donations of time, goods, services and money from the community.

More than 20,000 people who are in crisis and unable to get help through government programs come through our drop-in facility each month. We provide a wide array of services to help meet their basic, immediate needs. By addressing essential and critical needs such as hunger, housing, health, and clothing, Sharing and Caring Hands has a huge impact on the lives of thousands of people who have nowhere else to turn.

Mary's Place, our transitional housing shelter, was recently expanded and now houses 100 families, an average of 600 people every day/night. We offer numerous programs and services for both parents and children. In addition to a safe place to live, families get an opportunity to rest and heal their spirits, to focus on rebuilding their lives, and to receive the guidance, support and encouragement they need to become stable and self-sufficient.
