DESCRIPTION
Food Distribution Volunteer
Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC) provides affordable housing and services for low-income people in the Tenderloin and throughout San Francisco, to promote equitable access to opportunity and resources. Please check us out at www.tndc.org.
Position Summary
The position is a Food Distribution Volunteer. This is a position for individuals with a passion for equity, diversity and integrity. You will be part of a team that will coordinate the transport, arrival, and distribution of produce and food for low-income residents. You will be supervised by TNDC’s Food and Nutrition Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Food Distribution Volunteer will meet on Thursdays from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. As a Food Distribution Volunteer you will assist with setting up of tables and prepare for the unloading of food. After the produce is dropped off assist other volunteers to unload and distribute food. Once the food distribution begins you will help manage participants in line when distributing food.
Basic Qualifications
· Able to lift 25-50 lbs.
· Clean and Organized
· Team player. Must be able to work as part of a team and work well with others.
· Enthusiastic. We need someone who is passionate about making a change and improving lives.
· Be culturally sensitive. We treat all people with respect and believe that different experiences and perspectives add value.
· An interest in (and basic knowledge of) sustainability topics / resource conservation is vital.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bilingual in Cantonese or Mandarin
· Committed and able to volunteer on a weekly basis
· Able to maintain good personal hygiene
This organization is volunteer-based and the position is uncompensated. There is commitment 2 hours a week, depending on the volunteer’s schedule.

Founded in 1981, the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC) currently owns 32 buildings and houses over 3,000 San Franciscans--primarily people who earn $5,000 to $25,000 a year. Serving the Tenderloin and central-city neighborhoods, TNDC also provides support services, including social workers and the Tenderloin After-School Program, a drop-in center for neighborhood children.
