The Music Hall

The Music Hall is a free space for all writers of theater and musical theater to create and present new work. The space is ideal for writing groups, table readings, presentations for a small audience, and personal writing time. By offering this free space, we save writers for the theater hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in rental space costs. And by offering the space during and beyond typical business hours, writers can take advantage of the room when they need it most.

We are looking for warm and responsible individuals to handle reservations and welcome artists to the space for evenings and weekends. These individuals will be trained to speak about the Music Hall in detail, as well as the organization as a whole. The Moderator will arrive early, be present for the length of the reservation, and close up once the reservation has concluded.

We are actively seeing individuals who can commit to a weekly shift. This shift will be either a weekday evening or a portion of a weekend day, to be consistent every week. Schedules are reassessed on a semester timeline.

About Dramatists Guild Foundation

Location:

520 8th Avenue, Suite 2401, New York, NY 10018, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to aid and nurture writers for the theater; to fund non-profit theaters producing contemporary American works; and to heighten awareness, appreciation, and support of theater across the country.

Description

Each year, DGF provides emergency grants to writers facing illness or other unforeseen circumstances, awards grants to non-profit theaters, reaches out to the public with educational programming, and creates writing development opportunities for dramatists at various stages in their career.

In January of 2008, the Dramatists Guild Fund was re-classified as a 501(c)3 public charity, enabling it to expand its reach through new initiatives such as The Legacy Project, a video series that documents and preserves the creative process of America’s most esteemed dramatists and Traveling Masters, a national outreach program bringing esteemed writers into communities for writing workshops and public symposia.
