Therapy Dog Teams for Classrooms
28 people are interested
Trained and certified Therapy Dog Teams serve in classrooms as reading partners, for individual counseling sessions, and for school-based events. Initiated by the SPS Volunteer Program in 2011, volunteer therapy dog teams that visit with same students regularly have shown to help improve focus, increase socialization and verbal interactions, reduce anxiety, assist children with speech and emotional disorders, and offer mental, emotional and physical benefits to children not used to animal interactions.
Come discover the joys of sharing and serving with your dog through weekly or monthly visits with Somerville Public Schools.
