Therapy Dog Teams are sought for several classrooms in Somerville Public Schools. With volunteer teams now in their third years, regular classroom visits and individual counseling sessions with therapy dogs have shown to increase focus, increase socialization and verbal interactions, reduce anxiety, assist children with speech and emotional disorders, and offer many mental, emotional and physical benefits to children not used to animal interactions. Somerville Public Schools welcomes trained, certified therapy dog teams to connect with students through regular classroom visits, and discover the joys of sharing and serving with your dog.
