If you enjoy working with elementary school children, volunteering in your community schools and making a positive impact on children’s safety, we have the perfect opportunity for you!
Volunteer Prince William’s RSVP and Disaster Services programs are looking for volunteer presenters to help teach fourth grade children critical life skills to keep them safe when they are home alone.
Volunteers must be at least 55 years old, be available during school hours and be comfortable presenting an interactive lesson to fourth grade students in a school setting (5 to 6 hours). Training will be provided. This need covers Manassas, Manassas Park and Prince William County. It doesn't matter if you live in Woodbridge or Haymarket - if you're available to help, let's talk!
Volunteers will feel great knowing they are helping to teach young children the critical skills they need to remain "Safe at Home" before their parents arrive from work!

Description
Prince William RSVP is the premier volunteer program for adults 55 and older. Put your skills and talents to work helping to solve critical social problems.
With their time, talent, and wisdom, hundreds of retired persons are helping children learn to read by service through The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Funded through the Corporation for National Service and in cooperation with the Points of Light Foundation, this initiative marks the first RSVP program within the greater Prince William area. While Prince William RSVP has been specifically focused as a literacy based program addressing the America Reads Challenge, we are proud to announce that the program is expanding to include more volunteer opportunities. New partners include the Prince William Area Agency on Aging and the 31st Juvenile Justice Department, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and Beacon just to name a few. Prince William RSVP volunteers choose the volunteer site, volunteer opportunity, day, and time that are most convenient to volunteer. Volunteer benefits include mileage reimbursement, cab service, supplemental accident insurance, training luncheons and get togethers, year-end recognition event, and a RSVP shirt or tote bag sporting our RSVP logo.
