The Coach will be in charge of leading activities during each Young Athletes session. S/he will be required to keep the children (ages 2-7) and parents on task and ensure sessions are conducted in a safe and orderly manner. The Coach may also assist in setting up/cleaning. A curriculum and all equipment will be provided by the Special Olympics.
Coaches must be Class A Volunteers and cleared to work with children. Class A Volunteers require a background screening and must undergo training.
Young Athletes meets on Wednesday and Friday mornings during the Fall 2016 season, and Saturday mornings beginning in Spring 2017.

Mission Statement
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Description
Young Athletes is an innovative sports play program for children ages 2-7 with intellectual disabilities (ID) and developmental disabilities (DD) and their peers, designed to introduce them into the world of sports.
