The Animal Rescue League of NH is looking for volunteers to help with weeding, landscaping, trail maintence, and the like! Proper landscaping does more than help our building look nice-- it reduces the risk of ticks and mice around our building, which is very important for the health and well-being of the animals in our care. So while this position doesn't involve any direct animal care or contact, you would still definitely be supporting animal welfare and animals in need.
Specifically, we need volunteers to:
-- Cut back the bushes that are overgrowing the entrances to our dog walking trails
-- Weed the mulched areas around our building
-- Weed the mulched island in our parking lot
-- Trim the dog walking paths around our building.
-- Weed our memorial brick walkway.
The League has a lawn mower and some basic tools, but if anyone is able to provde their own tools for the work, it would be probably be a tremendous asset (though the League cannot be liable for or replace any tools damaged during the work).
The schedule for this work is very, very flexible. No single volunteer is required or expected to complete all of the landscaping needs we have. Perhaps you like trimming brush, but have no interest in mowing. No worries! Maybe you find weeding to be soothing, but just don't feel comfortable with tools. Not a problem! We have needs for every skill level and interest. Our scheduling is also very flexible. This can be done as a one day project for a group, or can be a regular thing for an individual.
We are hoping to have everything tidied before snow falls, so any and all help is appreciated! To get started, just complete this quick online application ( https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?ap=1048979927 ). In the "When Are You Available" section, indicate that you are interested in landscaping and any related details (individual or group, one time or regularly), and we'll be in contact to work a schedule out!
If you have any question or concerns, contact Kelly Boisvert (Volunteer Coordinator) at KBoisvert@rescueleague.org or (603) 472-7800.
