The United Way 5K is seeking Check-in Volunteers to assist on the day of our 5K event.

Check-in volunteers will check-in pre-resitered runners and walkers, and provide them with their race bib, t-shirt and goodie bags. Check-in Volunteers will check-off runners who checked-in from a master list, and keep the list updated as runners check-in.

Registration volunteers will register volunteers who have not pre-registered. They will ask the participants to complete a registration/waiver form, and take their payment in the form of cash, check or credit card (we will have a staff person to assist with all payment transactions). Once participants are registered, volunteers will provide a bib to the runner, and then run the forms to the Racing Vendor who must enter the information into their database for accurate results. Day of runners will not be eligible for t-shirts or goodie bags.

Volunteers will be asked to help set-up and decorate registration and check-in areas prior to the arrival of the runners.

Check-in and registration volunteers are asked to greet participants in a friendly and welcomig manner and thank them for running and supporting the community. Once the race commences, check-in and registration volunteers and asked to break down the registration area and pack up remaining supplies.

Mission Statement

Our Mission at The United Way of Tri-County is to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another.

Description

Our Vision

United Way envisions a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives.

Our Mission

United Way improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.

Our Goals

In 2008, United Way initiated a 10-year program designed to achieve the following goals by 2018:

Improve education, and cut the number of high school dropouts " 1.2 million students, every year " in half.

Help people achieve financial stability, and get 1.9 million working families " half the number of lower-income families who are financially unstable " on the road to economic independence.

Promote healthy lives, and increase by one-third the number of youth and adults who are healthy and avoid risky behaviors.

Our goals are ambitious, but with your help, and by utilizing our core strengths " a national network, committed partners and public engagement capacity " we can achieve them.
