United Way 5K Seeking Route Support Volunteers - Bike

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: United Way of Tri-County

  • 3 people are interested

United Way 5K Route Support Volunteers will ride back and forth along our 5K route to ensure participants safety, to offer assistance to a runner or walker in need, and to cheer for participants along the way. One Route Support volunteer will act as caboose, riding along with the last runner or walker. The Caboose will let the rest stop volunteers know when the last walker has passed by their stop so they can close down. Another volutneer will act as the sweep, and will make one final pass along the route once the last walker/runner crosses the finish line.

Volunteers should come prepared with their own safe, working bicycle, and when riding, must wear a safety helmet.

Volunteers are representing the United Way during the event so we ask that all volunteers be kind and courteous to 5K participants, fellow volunteers, staff, vendors, police and everyone else associated with the event.

The event will take place rain or shine so we ask that cyclists come prepared to ride in the rain if necessary. When it rains, we need your help more then ever.

Volunteers will receive a Live United T-shirt, water, snacks and our heartfelt thanks for your generosity.

Mission Statement

Our Mission at The United Way of Tri-County is to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another.

Description

Our Vision

United Way envisions a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives.

Our Mission

United Way improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.

Our Goals

In 2008, United Way initiated a 10-year program designed to achieve the following goals by 2018:

Improve education, and cut the number of high school dropouts " 1.2 million students, every year " in half.

Help people achieve financial stability, and get 1.9 million working families " half the number of lower-income families who are financially unstable " on the road to economic independence.

Promote healthy lives, and increase by one-third the number of youth and adults who are healthy and avoid risky behaviors.

Our goals are ambitious, but with your help, and by utilizing our core strengths " a national network, committed partners and public engagement capacity " we can achieve them.
