Refugees all over the world from Africa to the middle east have been forced to flee their homes. Many of these refugees spend years in camps and hope to find peace and stability as they travel to their new homes in the US. Los Angles will welcome thousands of newly arrived refugees each year, with the goal of making them feel welcome in their new home and achieve self sufficiency and stability.
Many refugees when they arrive come with nothing or with one suitcase. At Catholic Charities we work to help them find an apartment and work with volunteers to set up these new homes with the essentials make them feel at home. With the anticipation of many new syrian families coming into Los Angeles this fall we are looking for volunteers to do some of the following:
-Donate new or lightly used home goods, beds and furniture
-Organize donation drives
-Help families move into their new apartments
-Serve as housing advocates
If you are interseted in helping welcome refugees in Los Angeles please email with your contact information and how you would like to get involved!
