Assistant Volunteer Coordinator - Part Time (Volunteer)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Volunteer Coordinator will assist the Executive Director and Volunteer Coordinator with administrative aspects of volunteer recruiting, scheduling, and onboarding. This position is ideal for someone who is looking for a volunteer opportunity or unpaid internship.

HOURS:

You will develop a regular schedule that suits you and the Volunteer Coordinator- we expect at least 10 hours/week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage volunteer job postings
  • Communication (via email or phone) with prospective volunteers
  • Ensure background investigations are completed for all volunteers
  • Maintain master schedule of volunteers
  • Volunteer onboarding and training i.e. instructions and handbook
  • Maintain volunteer database
  • Collect volunteer feedback

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education (or related field) is preferred
  • Prior volunteer experience working with urban youth is preferred
  • Interact with others in a calm and professional demeanor
  • Effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities
  • Work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions
  • Take initiative and work with limited direct supervision
  • Proficient computer skills, including database management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organization and planning skills
