Assistant Volunteer Coordinator - Part Time (Volunteer)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Volunteer Coordinator will assist the Director of Programs with administrative aspects of volunteer recruiting, scheduling, and onboarding. This position is ideal for someone who is looking for a volunteer opportunity or unpaid internship.

HOURS:

You will develop a regular schedule that suits you and the Volunteer Coordinator- we expect at least 10 hours/week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage volunteer job postings
• Communication (via email or phone) with prospective volunteers
• Ensure background investigations are completed for all volunteers
• Maintain master schedule of volunteers
• Volunteer onboarding and training i.e. instructions and handbook
• Maintain volunteer database
• Collect volunteer feedback

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in education (or related field) is preferred
• Prior volunteer experience working with urban youth is preferred
• Interact with others in a calm and professional demeanor
• Effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities
• Work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions
• Take initiative and work with limited direct supervision
• Proficient computer skills, including database management
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Organization and planning skills
