Beauty Within's mission is to uplift and inspire girls in the community by building confidence, discovering leadership skills and creating a sisterhood environment.

Description

Beauty Within Inc., was founded in May 2015 and we held our first meeting on August 15 th 2015. Beauty Within is a free mentoring program for girls 8-17 in Greensboro North Carolina. The program has meetings every first and third Saturday, at the Brown Recreation Center, from 11-12:30pm. Our program operates from August -May, with an end of the year trip in June. Based on our attendance from our 2015-2016 program year, we are expected to have 30 active girls, and 10 mentors who will help assist the girls in the program. Beauty Within empowers girls in the community, by providing a positive sisterhood experience. In our program we teach various lessons with interactive activities, based on monthly topics that are important for the population we serve. By promoting confidence and leadership, it helps develop positive character traits in each girl that participates in our program. Some of the topics we have discussed so far has been, Being Unique, True Beauty Within, Friendships and Body Image just to name a few. Each meeting consists of a light lunch, an arts and crafts activity, group discussion and a one on discussion with their assigned mentor. The purpose of the arts and craft activity and or games is to have each girl open up before we jump into our topic of the day.
