We are looking for a few exemplary massage therapists (students or graduates) to volunteer at the OCT 8 - OCT 9, 24-hour performance of Taylor Mac’s A 24-Decade History of Popular Music at St. Ann’s Warehouse.
If you are not familiar with Taylor Mac (who uses "judy" as a gender pronoun), judy's a critically acclaimed (New York Times, NPR and more) playwright, actor, singer-songwriter, performance artist, director and producer. judy's latest and most ambitious work, A 24-Decade History of Popular Music, a (highly subjective) history of music and activism in America, will be showing at St. Ann’s Warehouse through October 9th, 2016 and culminates in a show with over 100 performers over one 24 hour period. http://stannswarehouse.org/show/taylor-mac-24-decade-history-popular-music-1776-2016/.
We are looking for massage therapists (students or graduates) to be present at the 24 hour performance to care for artists (in shifts, of course!). Each shift will be 3 hours, 10-15 minute sessions (potentially longer for primary performers) and a standard massage table will be provided. We have over 190 special guests ranging from aerialists, puppeteers, trapeze artists and musicians using massage therapy services.
This is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime production, and a fabulous opportunity for massage therapists (students or graduates) who are interested in working in the performing arts and we would be happy to provide short letters of recommendation to professionals volunteering their time.
We are also looking for one masseuse to participate on-stage for a moment, 23 hours in, when our fearless pianist is carried off stage and directly to a waiting massage table.
Please note: If you are a student volunteer, you must provide your own teacher supervision, as according to your school’s policy.

Developing the Tobacco Warehouse as St. Ann’s first permanent home has added countless opportunities for year-round programming to complement the recreational aspects of Brooklyn Bridge Park. Preserving the original brick walls and the scenic archways provides multiple points of access for community members from across the street and visitors from around the world to come together to explore new possibilities for expression and to enrich local life for decades to come.
