ORGANIZATION: Communities In Schools of the Nation's Capital, Inc.

Every 2 nd Saturday of each month, volunteers are needed from 9am-2pm to help with maintaining the school garden at JO Wilson Elementary School. This garden benefits students and families who attend the school.

Some of the general tasks include:

  • clearing trash
  • watering
  • weeding
  • planting and harvesting
  • signing in other volunteers
  • setting up lunch stations
  • and a host of other tasks
The closest metro is NOMA-Gallaudet which is on the red line and a 12 minute walk to the school. Street parking is also available.

CISNCAP positions site coordinators inside schools and partners with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers and volunteers to provide students with exactly what they need. Whether it's food, school supplies, health care, counseling, academic assistance or a positive role model, we work to provide whatever students need to flourish.
