CHJ is looking for a fine artist to help us build a collaborative art piece for our upcoming event on 10-21-16. We are looking for a 3d tree that is light weight and free standing. The branches of the tree should be bare so the event participants can add leaves and other pieces. There is no compensation for this opportunity but CHJ will be responisble for the cost of materials. There will also be free food available at the event.
Center for Health Justice (CHJ) serves people impacted by incarceration, providing health education and support that act as a bridge to a productive life. Headquartered in Downtown Los Angeles, CHJ views incarceration as a period of opportunity, developing health promotion strategies and innovative programming for incarcerated and recently released individuals, their family members, and partners.
The event is called Life on the Outside, and this year's theme will focus on the "Dimensions of Wellness." The event will take place at the James irvine Japanese Gardens on Friday 10-21-16 from 9am to 2pm. There will be games, activites, food, presentations, and resources. The tree will be for a collaborative art piece symbolizing a tree of wellness. We will ask participants what wellness means to them, and they will write their answers on paper leaves and other objects and shapes and hang them from the tree. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity please feel free to contact me at xena@healthjustice.net or 213-229-0985 ext. 2160.
