During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Hospice is a compassionate, patient-centered approach to providing care for people at the end of life. Hospice care is focused on maintaining dignity, increasing quality of life, and providing comfort, including pain and symptom management. Kindred Hospice not only cares for our patients, but offers support for their families as well.
As a volunteer for Kindred, you can make a difference in the lives of the people we serve. After completing our volunteer training course, you will visit patients in their homes (be that a skilled nursing facility or a free standing house), providing companionship and friendly visits.
Volunteers are assigned to visit patients that live in their neighborhood so the burden of travel is minimal. In most situations, visiting hours are flexible and you will be able to visit patients on your schedule, when it is most convenient for you.
Visitor volunteers do NOT perform any medical or personal cares and do not transfer patients, administer any medicines, take patients to the bathroom, etc. Your job is just to visit as a friendly neighbor would!
