Established in Urbandale, Iowa,
Courage League Sports is a nonprofit adaptive sports and recreational program that offers year-round activities for children and adults who aren't able to go full speed due to a physical, cognitive or emotional disability. By adapting the pace, equipment, or nature of an activity, Courage League Sports can provide a safe and accessible environment where participants can go at their own speed.
Frustrated at the lack of options for her son who suffered multiple strokes at the age of eight, Melissa Clarke-Wharff opened Courage League Sports where those with special needs could participate and be active outside of a therapy atmosphere.
Today, Courage League Sports serves more than 1,000 individuals in Urbandale and is looking forward to expanding their presence in Eastern Iowa.

Mission Statement
Courage League Sports is a recreational adaptive sports facility specifically designed for children not able to go "full speed" due to disability, illness, or emotional challenges. We strive to ensure a positive recreational experience for all children and their families. We will encourage participants to have fun while exercising outside of a therapy atmosphere.
Description
Our programs provide an opportunity to play in sports leagues, participate in group classes or play around during open gym nights at everyone’s own skill level. Leagues consist of weekly-themed sports (e.g.basketball, volleyball, flag football, and soccer) incorporating traditional skill work and EXERGAMING technology. Additionally, fitness classes consist of adaptive yoga, pom squad, cycling, kickboxing, tumbling, and core. A place for developing new skills, meeting new friends, building self-confidence, and having fun!
