Volunteers needed for historic civil war fort Mahan clean up Washington D.C

The National Park Service and a cleaner ward 7 are going to be cleaning up at ft. Mahan park on Sunday sept 25 2016. The clean-up will take place from 9am-12pm and we will meet behind the 7/11at Benning and Minnesota N.E avenue Sunday morning. Ft. Mahan park is a historic civil war park located 5 minutes away from Minnesota ave metro station. https://www.nps.gov/places/fort-mahan.htm

The area we will focus on is being used as a dumping ground so that should give you an idea of what we are up against. Please wear pants and a long sleeves shirt and you will need to sign the park service waiver before you can join us cleaning up. This clean-up is a part of a multi-year effort for a cleaner ward 7 to clean up, inspire others in the community to clean up and to organize with local people to do more impactful clean ups. After all we live here and it’s up to us all to take care of the community and to protect our environment.

We need people to clean up the dumping area and we need people to walk the trail and pick up trash. So if you can come out and join us for a clean-up at ft. Mahan we would really appreciate it and you might see a few deer while your at it.
