ORGANIZATION: 501 Commons

Do you have consulting skills that can propel a small or mid-sized arts organization forward? Would you like to use those skills to create an actionable plan they can use to:

· Solve problems that are holding them back, burning out staff, and stressing their board;

· Identify specific action steps to increase organizational capacity; and/or

· Develop a roadmap for a bold new vision?

Springboard is an action learning planning program that helps small and mid-sized arts and cultural organizations develop the ability to quickly identify and address organizational problems, spot opportunities, develop action plans, and measure success. We are looking for volunteer consultants from February-June 2017 to share their skills and knowledge with participating organizations.

Time Commitment

Volunteer consultants work in pairs to help organizations identify priority issues and develop a plan to address them. Consultants and client organizations are part of a peer-learning cohort that meet over a four-month period. Springboard projects require a commitment of 8-10 hours per month between February-June.

Desired Skills

This opportunity is ideal for volunteers who have at least 5 years nonprofit experience. Knowledge of the arts is not necessary, but very helpful. Springboard consultants will also need to have planning and facilitation skills and must be able to create a detailed and professional-quality written plan.

Volunteer Today!

If you are not already a member of 501 Commons Service Corps, you will be asked to submit an online application and attend an interview before January 15th. Volunteer consultants will be matched with a participating organization by early February. For more information please contact Program Manager Debra Webb at debra@501commons.org

Description

501 Commons was founded in 1989 as Executive Service Corps of Washington. In 2010, we changed our name to 501 Commons, reflecting a changing role and broader range of services. Most of our clients are in the Pacific Northwest, but many of our services are available to nonprofits in other geographic areas.

Our name is based on the principle of the "the commons." The commons can be characterized as having five distinct attributes:

  1. Free and uncoerced participation

  5. Relationships that are characterized by justice and fairness

Our Theory of Practice describes how we approach our work and our Team Charter describes how our team of 45+ work together to serve our clients.
