Friendly Visitor for Adult Female (Second Opportunity)

Mary Centre is looking for a volunteer friendly visitor for an adult female with a developmental disability. The volunteer would encourage the individual to participate and interact in the greater community, increasing her socialization. The volunteer would engage in social activities with the individual (i.e. going for coffee, going to the mall, playing bingo, doing arts and crafts, going to the movies). The individual has expressed interest in learning how to knit or sew, and enjoys attending special events (i.e. halloween dances). Visits would be 1-2 times per week, and would be coodinated directly with the individual and her Mary Centre support staff.

We are looking for a volunteer who has good communication skills, is patient, friendly, and outgoing, and engaging. Experience with individuals with a developmental disability is beneficial but not a requirement. .

Mary Centre highly recommends First Aid/CPR, and Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB) training. * A current vulnerable sector search is required*

Mary Centre Location is fully accessible, however volunteer would be in the community with the individual and these locations may not be accessible.
