Get eye to eye with a butterfly in the exhibit Butterflies & Blooms The beautiful and intimate cottage garden gallery is aflutter with hundreds of butterflies on the wing including magnificent monarchs, western swallowtails, painted ladies and more.
Exhibit volunteers talk to visitors about the mysterious process of metamorphosis, butterfly anatomy, and the pollinator's critical role in the life cycle of plants. This volunteer position is for you if you're comfortable approaching and talking with visitors of all ages.
The Conservatory requests that volunteers commit to two shifts per month through 2017. Shifts are available from 10:00-1:00 or 1:00-4:00 Tuesday-Sunday. In return, the Conservatory offers volunteers, free entry during regular hours, free lectures and social events, and a discount in the gift shop.

Description
The Conservatory of Flowers has captivated guests since opening in 1879. This gem of Victorian architecture has a long and storied history, and is the oldest wood and glass conservatory in North America. As a city, state, and national historic landmark, the Conservatory remains one of the most beloved attractions in Golden Gate Park.
The Conservatory displays thousands of tropical plants from all over the world including hundreds of orchids, stunning water lilies, and a variety of tropical fruits.
