DESCRIPTION The American Diabetes Association is proud to announce the availability of an unpaid internship at the Metairie, LA office. This position will support all Community Outreach efforts which benefit the education, advocacy, and research efforts of the American Diabetes Association in the Greater New Orleans area. The intern will: - Assist with recruitment, coordination, and planning for year-round Programs - Assist with volunteer training and site planning - Help coordinate high-risk population educational programs and events - Attend designated local Health Fairs

REQUIREMENTS * Currently enrolled in a local University or College (Minimum two years of college education or completion of required prerequisite courses preferred.) * Highly motivated, self-starting student who is passionate about public service * Excellent writing, research, and communication skills * Proficiency in MS Office Word and Excel, Internet and e-mail * Proficiency in database management and design of spreadsheets * Able to communicate via telephone * Proficient public speaking and presentation skills * Attention to detail and accuracy · Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects while maintaining an organized environment · Comfortable working in a team environment, but also capable of functioning independently · Ability to work 20+ hours per week (some evenings and weekends) · Ability to lift at least 25 pounds · Ability to provide own transportation. · This is an unpaid internship. Please note: This is a 3 month minimum obligation, start and end dates are flexible.
