DESCRIPTION The American Diabetes Association is proud to announce the availability of an Internship in the Metairie, LA office. The Special Events and Fundraising internship will give the selected intern a chance to earn valuable experience in event marketing and community outreach. Duties include: · Assist with marketing strategy and execution with press releases, media sponsorship and community awareness campaigns. · Assist in event planning and management. · Recruitment calls/e-mails/visits to fundraising teams/groups. · Implementing outreach plan to small companies for team development and low level sponsorship. · Represent the Association at community events and health fairs · Responding to email, mailings and phone inquiries when applicable
REQUIREMENTS * Currently enrolled in a local University or College (Minimum two years of college education or completion of required prerequisite courses preferred.) * Highly motivated, self-starting student who is passionate about public service * Excellent writing, research, and communication skills * Proficiency in MS Office Word and Excel, Internet and e-mail * Proficiency in database management and design of spreadsheets * Able to communicate via telephone * Proficient public speaking and presentation skills * Attention to detail and accuracy · Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects while maintaining an organized environment · Comfortable working in a team environment, but also capable of functioning independently · Ability to work 20+ hours per week (some evenings and weekends) · Ability to lift at least 25 pounds · Ability to provide own transportation. · This is an unpaid internship. Please note: This is a 3 month minimum obligation, start and end dates are flexible.
