With the release of the Pittsburgh Urban Forest Master Plan in 2012, Tree Pittsburgh has been working on various strategies to stabilize hillsides and increase forest canopy and species diversity. To accomplish these goals, Tree Pittsburgh's Heritage Nursery and Forest Restoration programs have been growing in recent years. In late 2015 Tree Pittsburgh identified the hillside along the Parkway East in Greenfield as an area in desperate need of invasive vine control and tree planting. With support from TreeVitalize Pittsburgh, we will be planting 300 seedlings with deer protection on November 5, 2016.
Note- This tree planting takes place on a steep slope.
