WE NEED YOUR HELP IN KEEPING JUPITER BEACH HARMONIOUS & DOG-

FRIENDLY!

As Jupiter has grown so have the number of dog owners bringing their pets to the beach. While we welcome people from other areas to share our beloved beach we also need for them to understand the Dog Beach Rules. Jupiter Beach is a PUBLIC BEACH with the PRIVILEGE of taking our furry friends there. It is important that everyone who comes to the beach has a pleasant time. Complaints about unruly dogs, dog owners not paying attention to their dogs and dog owners not picking up after their pets has increased. We need to address this issue or risk the real possibility of losing this important privilege. It is important that we reach all dog owners who use our beach.

On February 25th from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm volunteers at each of our crossovers to hand out dog beach rules and ask dog owners to complete a short survey. Invite a friend and volunteer for a couple of hours. FJB will provide materials and volunteers will restock rules cards and pick up completed surveys during the day. Please contact Karen Gray at kgray@friendsofjupiterbeach.org or 561-744-2659 to sign up for a time and crossover number. It will take all of us who enjoy this privilege to work together to keep it. Community Service Hours awarded. All volunteers receive a free coozie.

Mission Statement

Mission Statement: Friends of Jupiter Beach is a 501 (c)(3) community organization whose goal is to support and maintain environmentally healthy, clean, and dog friendly beaches in Jupiter, Florida.

Description

Founded in 1994, Friends of Jupiter Beach is a 501(c)3 community organization whose goal is to support and maintain an environmentally healthy, clean, and dog friendly beaches in Jupiter through volunteerism and education. Volunteers from every facet of the community clean a 2.5 mile span of beach from north of the Juno Beach Pier to Carlin Park in Jupiter each month. Since the group began tracking in 2006, we have collected and saved more than 54,000 lbs. of garbage and recyclables from the landfill. FJB sends out a monthly e-newsletter, participates in civic events, and uses the electronic media to spread its environmental message. In addition, FJB provides 400,000 dog bags a year, and maintains the boxes in which they are contained for use by the beach-going public at 35 dog bag stations along Jupiter Beach. FJB has formed a Young Friends of Jupiter Beach group to engage middle and high school students and teach them good stewardship of the environment. A recent study shows that out of county visitors to north county beaches spend $70 million dollars a year on front line services alone.
