ORGANIZATION: EarthShare

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

The Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society is sponsoring the 13th Annual Fall River "Shady" Sweep on October 1st, 2016, in memory of our founder Dan Shade. Volunteers will have the opportunity to canoe a section of the Muscatatuck River or walk along its bank while collecting trash and contributing positively to the environment and community. Everyone is welcome to participate; we ask that their parent or other responsible adults accompany small children. All are encouraged to dress in clothing appropriate for outdoor work and relative to the current weather conditions.

Registration is at 8:00am at the Vernon Commons, located off Jackson Street in Vernon. A brief safety instruction, equipment distribution and group location assignments will be held before going to the river sweep locations. Participants interested in canoeing during the cleanup must provide their own canoe.

Participants will conclude their day at 12:00pm at the North Vernon City Park, Shelter House #3, where lunch will be provided from food donated by local businesses.

Questions regarding the cleanup or sponsorship may be directed to:
