kettle

Beginning in November, volunteer bell ringers will take to the streets of your community for one of the merriest of traditions - The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle and bell ringing!

The traditional red kettle is an integral part of the Christmas scene, when The Salvation Army workers and volunteers seek donations to aid needy families, seniors, and the homeless, in keeping with the spirit of the season. These important donations provide Christmas dinners, clothing, and toys for families in need. Financial assistance also helps individuals and families with basic necessities throughout the year as well.

Businesses, churches, clubs and civic organizations are needed to "adopt a kettle". Groups can volunteer to ring the bells any day up until December 24th from 10 a.m. to 8 pm. Usually, those ten hours are divided into segments of two hours among your group (or more, depending on the number of volunteers available) with two people covering each kettle. Half-day shifts are available also. Half day shifts are also available (10-3 or 3-8 pm).

Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Description

The Salvation Army located in Richmond KY provides many services to help those in need here in Madison county and 4 other surrounding areas. In our Social Service office, we provide emergency food and clothing for those in need as well as utility assistance. We also have a soup kitchen that runs on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 11-1. Our mobile canteen (mobile kitchen) goes out every Saturday to our most needed neighborhoods to serve soup and sandwiches.

We also have an emergency shelter that provides a safe place to stay for those in need.

Children programs are offered throughout the week for at risk youth in our community and we are always seeking good role models for these programs.

Without the generous support of volunteers, it would not be possible to provide all of the programs and services that The Salvation Army offers.
