Beginning Friday, November 17th, volunteer bell ringers will take to the streets of your community for one of the merriest of traditions - The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle and bell ringing! The traditional red kettle is an integral part of the Christmas scene, when The Salvation Army workers and volunteers seek donations to aid needy families, seniors, and the homeless, in keeping with the spirit of the season. These important donations provide Christmas dinners, clothing, and toys for families in need. Financial assistance also helps individuals and families with basic necessities throughout the year as well.
Businesses, churches, clubs and civic organizations are needed to "adopt a kettle". Groups can volunteer to ring the bells any day up until December 23rd from 10 a.m. to 8 pm. Usually, those ten hours are divided into segments of two hours among your group (or more, depending on the number of volunteers available) with two people covering each kettle. Half-day shifts are available also.
