Open Door Learning Center

Open Door Learning Center - Northside is looking for someone to lead a Tuesday, noonday ESL class, requiring a short amount of preparation time; with training, lesson plan, and materials provided. The main qualification is a desire to engage with people from other countries. The Family Literacy class is an excellent way for parents to learn English while also becoming more informed about different community resources and how to navigate a variety of conversations and situations they may come across in their day to day life. The class is well-suited for beginning English Language Learners, and addresses a variety of topics centering around family activities and family engagement. Students can learn and develop critical thinking skills, while bolstering their reading, writing and speaking skills. The class meets from 12:00 to 1:00 Mondays through Thursdays Currently, the class consists mostly of East African women at a Beginning Level of English.
