Our Mission:Ozanam provides safe and nurturing environments so at-risk youth and young adults can be successful.
Ozanam Pathways Wichita Transitional Living Program (TLP) is seeking volunteer tutors and homework helpers to help a group of youth succeed academically. If you are at least 21 years old and enjoy teaching as well as learning, sign up to become one of our tutors who meet weekly in a community-based setting to help a group of youth in our program with their studies. The recommended time commitment for this position is 1 to 2 hours per week. Many of our boys and girls need extra help academically, and time spent with volunteers can improve their grades and study skills. Tutoring sessions are held during the school year (August 24, 2016 - May 17, 2017) on Thursday evenings from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Examples of some of the subjects that need to be covered include:
Reading and comprehension
Writing
Basic math
Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry
GED Preparation
Other subjects as needed
Due to the nature of our work, prospective volunteers will be required to submit to a background check. Once that clears, the individual will be required to complete a confidentiality agreement upon acceptance of the volunteer position.
Interested volunteers should contact Jessica Hutton, Family and Youth Manager at Jessica.Hutton@ozanam.org or by calling (316) 682-4000. Please include your name, phone number, availability, resume/list of experiences and interest in the email.

Description
Ozanam is a trauma-informed organization committed to helping at-risk youth overcome trauma and develop independent living skills that will enable them to function effectively as members of society. Ozanam Pathways Wichita offers a transitional living program. Our Pathways Transitional Living Program typically serves males and females, ages of 16 to 23, who are homeless or in the custody of the state of either Kansas or Missouri. These young people usually have limited adult resources and/or have dropped out of high school. Additionally, they lack independent living skills, employment experience, and transportation. Some might have been homeless prior to entering our program. Some are parenting teens with little or no parenting skills or support. Others may have intellectual disabilities.
