Help an Italian senior female remain connected and engaged by checking in once a week with a phone call or visit! She could really use help with vacuuming and changing sheets once a month. She'd also appreciate a ride to/from the Italian Community Services center (678 Green Street) in North Beach occasionally so she can spend time having lunch, conversing and playing cards, with other Italian seniors (usually on Wednesdays). Providing undivided attention to a senior can boost their spirit and help them to overcome obstacles that may otherwise lead them into a senior home. Spend a little time with a home-bound elder and you will make a big difference!

95% of us want to grow old in the comfort of our own home. NEXT's goal is to help the elderly in Northeast SF does just that! We also work to increase the member's well being by reducing social isolation and loneliness by hosting workshops, cultural events and outings. Some of our members have lived in their homes/apartments for 40 years. Volunteers help by: Providing companionship. Taking someone to the grocery store, and if needed, help them carry their groceries up to their apartment. Providing transportation to medical appointments or offering a lift to our social events. Helping with technology. Leading a class or speaking about something interesting to a group.
