This is an AmeriCorps volunteer position that includes living allowance and stipend. Ten-month full-time position working with El Paso County Office of Emergency Management, Black Forest Together, and numerous non-profit community organizations to increase community response to disasters. Successful candidates will develop, build, and deliver emergency preparedness programming in communities through designing projects, organizing neighborhood service efforts, and providing training to the public to mitigate the impact of disasters. Programs will include underserved populations including non-English speakers, senior citizens, young families, and people with disabilities. Spanish language is a plus but not required. Work will include professional development, training, and required certifications as well as valuable real-world job experience with professional emergency management and volunteer coordinators. Work will include partnership with Black Forest Together for post-fire mitigation, awareness, and prevention efforts. Stipend is $12,100 total for ten months, paid in bi-weekly payments by Americorps. After successful completion of 10 months of service, members are eligible for a $5,700 education award to be used toward student loan debt or qualified tuition payments.
