Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Accord

  • 19 people are interested

Objective: Chaperone a resident of a CIP Adult Foster Care (AFC) home on a trip to the Science Museum. Provide support, guidance, and friendliness to an individual who shares similar interests.

Responsibilities: Pick up and accompany the resident from their home to visit the Science Museum and return them home again. Prior to the day of the activity, an introductory meeting will take place at the resident’s house so that the resident may meet the volunteer. If the resident agrees to the outing, the Volunteer Coordinator will contact the volunteer to schedule a time for the activity. After the activity happens, the volunteer will notify the Volunteer Coordinator and give an update. We ask that the volunteer call the resident on the day of the outing to remind/confirm that they are meeting that day. If the volunteer does not receive confirmation of the outing from the resident, they may assume that it is not on for that day.

Mission Statement

As listeners, learners and leaders, we will stand with and support people with disabilities in their communities as they pursue their personal dreams and goals.

Description

We're here to help people cope with the issues surrounding social injustice, low income, aging, and homelessness -- and, in doing so, to help them live their greatest lives.

Since 1971, we've been meeting people where they are and bringing them what they need to live as independently, creatively, and fully as possible. We offer a variety of services and supports, which have all been developed as a result of listening to and understanding the needs of the people we serve, their loved ones and their communities.
