The Housing Authority of St. Louis County is offering a free after school program for children ages 5-14 within our developments. Our goal is to help children foster a love for reading. Children will get help with homework and have fun learning through different literacy activities and art classes Children will also have the opportunity to check out books from the on-site library. The children will also have the opportunity to grow their own garden of fruit and vegetables. This is a paid opportunity.
Essential functions:
-help children with homework
-assist with the art & gardening activities
-prepare and serve snack & dinner
-assist lead teacher with any activities, including technology related activities
-assist with the on-site library
-clean up area
The program will be held Monday - Thursday at two sites from 4:00pm - 5:30pm. Volunteers will work from 3:30 until 5:30 This program will follow the Pattonville School Schedule. You must be able to work Mon-Thurs at both sites (approximately 2 miles apart). A small stipend is available.

Description
The Housing Authority of St. Louis County primarily provides affordable housing options through the use of Housing Choice Vouchers and the Public Housing Program. However, HASLC seeks to promote literacy among the children within the Public Housing Program. Our Summer Reading program seeks to foster a love for reading among children while providing them a nutritious meal.
