--------------------------------

Would you like to participate in the KAFSC community events and advocate to create a healthy and safe community? In commemoration of October, the Month of Domestic Violence Awareness, Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) is seeking volunteers at the 19th Annual Silent March Against Domestic Violence event in October. This will be a meaningful opportunity to raise awareness of violence and meet/work with people who have passion for the community. You can make a difference!

Register for this event by clicking on the "I WANT TO HELP" option or email your first and last name to our Volunteer Engagement Associate, Carmen Wang, at volunteer_associate@kafsc.org or call 718-460-3801 ext. 36. We hope to see you in October!

What We’re Looking For

  • College and high school students

  • Working professionals

  • Elderly

  • Parents and children

Benefits

Volunteers are participating in a life-changing event that will strengthen victims and families in our community. Domestic violence is often an issue that is not outspoken in the Asian/Korean American community. When victims see that people care, they will realize that it is not an issue they will need to face alone. They will not be ashamed to reach out for help and to stand up for their own rights. Your support will encourage others to slowly change cultural barriers and prevent domestic violence in the future. As silent marchers and volunteers gather together, we become a powerful army that will fight against domestic violence.

Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) - Flushing, New York

Founded in 1989, the Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) is a leading, nonprofit organization that supports and empowers adults, youth, and children to lead safe and healthy lives based on dignity, compassion and mutual respect. We are committted to preventing and ending domestic violence and relationship abuse, and creating a violence-free society. Our counseling, education and advocacy programs for individuals and families in the New York Tri-State area are provided in a culturally and linguistically appropriate setting.

Through the historical merger with Rainbow Center of NY (aka Women In Need Center) in January 2014, KAFSC has increased capacity to add and provide an emergency shelter for women and children, the only-of-its-kind in the greater New York Korean community.
