Mary Centre is looking for a volunteer to be a friendly visitor for an adult male with a developmental disability. The volunteer would be responsible for visiting with the individual 1-2 times per week to go for coffee or lunch, going for a walk in the mall, building model trucks and cars, watching old movies, and playing darts.
We are looking for a volunteer who has great communication skills, is friendly, outgoing, and patient. Experience with developmental disabilities is beneficial, but not a requirement.
Mary Centre provides all mandatory trainings, both online and in person. These include:
-Orientation to Mary Centre
-Individual Specific Training
-Mission & Value Statement
-Statement on Catholicism
-Individuals Rights
-Education & Awareness on Abuse Prevention and Reporting for Individuals
-Safe Driving (for volunteers who drive an individual in their vehicle)
-Protecting the Vulnerable
-Violence in the Workplace
Mary Centre highly recommends First Aid/CPR, and Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB) training. * A current vulnerable sector search is required*
Mary Centre Location is fully accessible, however volunteer would be in the community with the individual and these locations may not be accessible.
