Change a life through literacy! Volunteer between 1.5-3 hours each week leading a group class or 1 x 1 tutoring session with adult learners. Class sessions include:

Group ESL (English as a Second Language): low, mid, or high level speakers. You choose whether you'd like to lead an ESL, Conversation, or Reading/Writing Class!

1 x 1 Basic Literacy: basic skills in reading, writing, or math

GED Preparation: 1 x 1 tutoring

US Citizenship Prep (must attend USCIS training)

Basic Computer Skills

All volunteers must attend one Tutor Training session, held monthly. Additionally, volunteers must attend four additional in-services offered monthly at the Literacy Council, for ongoing professional development. Once tutors set their class schedule, we ask that they are able to commit to that schedule for at least one academic semester. Tutors are not required to have prior experience in education, but are required to have a passion for literacy and patience when interacting with adult learners

Tutor Training Monday, September 19th from 6-9 p.m.
