Change a life through literacy! Volunteer 3 hours each week leading a GED or Pre-GED class or 1 x 1 tutoring session with adult learners.
Classes are help one to twice a week for 3 hours.
This volunteer opportunity is great for a retired teacher.
All volunteers must attend one Tutor Training session, held monthly. Additionally, volunteers must attend four additional in-services offered monthly at the Literacy Council, for ongoing professional development. Once tutors set their class schedule, we ask that they are able to commit to that schedule for at least one academic semester. Tutors are not required to have prior experience in education, but are required to have a passion for literacy and patience when interacting with adult learners.
