Volunteer with the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County as an 1 x 1 reading& writing tutor to adult students.
Responsibilities:
-Attend one Tutor Training session, held once monthly on Monday from 6-9 pm
-Commit to tutoring between 1.5-3 hours each week on a set schedule for one full academic semester
-Have a passion for literacy education
-Demonstrate patience with adult learners
-Attend three additional in-services throughout the year, offered at the Literacy Council, for ongoing professional development

Description
Since, 1987 the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County has been Changing Lives Through Literacy. The mission of the Literacy Council is to end intergenerational cycles of illiteracy by improving adult literacy skills and generate community-wide literacy awareness. The Literacy Council provides several programs for its students: Basic Literacy, English as a Second Language, GED Preparation, U.S. Citizenship Preparation, basic Computer Skills and Transitions to Post-Secondary Education.
