Job Responsibility
Collect water samples at one or more of the following locations one or more times a month*:
1) Otter Rock
2) Beverly Beach
3) Agate Beach - Headland
4) Big Creek (Agate Beach Wayside Stream)
5) Nye Beach
6) Happy (Yaquina Bridge North)
South Beach
7) Ona Beach
*Samples must be collected Saturday morning and delivered to the Oregon Coast Aquarium Water Quality Lab by noon on the day they were collected.
Total Time/Month
Depends on total number of samples taken and how many Saturdays/month are volunteered. In
general in takes 1-2 hours to collect samples and deliver them to the lab and return back to home.
Volunteers may select any number of sites and times per month they sample to meet the time they wish to volunteer. Minimum would probably be 1 hour/month to collect one site once an month.
Skills Required and/or Learned
Training and equipment needed to collect water will be provided by the Blue Water Task Force Coordinator.
Transportation is required for travel to sites and drop off samples to lab. It may be
possible to coordinate delivery of samples to a designated area for another volunteer to
transport to the lab.
Moderate walking on beach or trail to water collection location is required.
