EIGHT MEMBERS BOARD DESCRIPTION

Board members of healthcare department at Mission Aid Project will have strategic and operational responsibility for the organization's development of healthcare activities. Members will manage all fund raising efforts for healthcare programs, to ensure that healthcare programs are fully funded.

The board will be part of MAP senior leadership team that, in partnership with the CEO, drives the overall strategy for MAP health department and ensures the success and sustainability of MAP health programs. This board complement the current development activities of the CEO. The healthcare board will write grant and contract proposals, and plan for increasing individual donors.

This is a volunteer to full time board. The eight selected members will be expected to begin immediately after establishing its self as a successful healthcare board and finishing one-year volunteer time with Mission Aid Project. Following the start date of the full time board, the board of education programs would have served in this department, supporting ongoing development of grants and contracts and to plan for new resource development strategies including a first-time individual donor program. All board efforts in office will be focused on developing a successful MAP health department.

The board of healthcare Programs reports to the CEO.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A-Build a volunteer healthcare team of 8 members

B-Work in partnership with the CEO to develop the strategic direction of the organization and make ongoing strategic decisions to ensure the success of MAP health department.

C-Lead MAP healthcare resource development activities.

D-Develop fund raising plans and successfully integrate and carry out the goals, tasks and activities of those plans.

E-Develop and implement a thoughtful and aggressive fund raising strategy to support and grow the healthcare fund to a $5 million annual operating budget.

F-Cultivate, solicit and steward major donors, foundations, corporate sponsors and other funding vehicles; organize, deploy and support the CEO and Board of Directors to do the same.

G-Oversee the research, writing and preparation of grant applications, contract bids, corporate sponsorship solicitations, other fund raising activities and required funder reports.

H-Oversee the planning of all fund raising and cultivation activities and events. Create and oversee a donor database and ensure efficient tracking of donor information and timely acknowledgment of gifts.

I-Ensure the efficient, effective day-to-day fund development activities by overseeing plans, budgets, program protocols, contract agreements and other deliverables as required.

J-Represent MAP with media and external constituency groups such as funders, donors, partners, elected officials, community members and others as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE IN:

General

A-Strong knowledge of organizational management, preferably in the nonprofit sector, and knowledge of what it takes to achieve success in a social mission.

B- Strong familiarity with Richardson TX, DFW and surrounding cities context and challenges, and demonstrated cultural competency in working with this community.
C- Knowledge and commitment to equity and addressing disparities in social outcomes.

D-Demonstrated ability to "manage up" in order to lead, organize and support the CEO and to carry out fund raising duties.

E-Experience working with community-based organizations or within a community-based setting.

F-Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative and mission-driven environment.

G- Passion, humility, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.

Resource Development

A- Existing relationships with and knowledge of key stakeholders within the philanthropic, corporate, political, nonprofit and community sectors in Richardson TX, DFW and surrounding cities is a requirement.
B- Knowledge of effective fund raising strategies and techniques for small to medium-sized nonprofits including foundation grants, government and private sector contract bidding, individual donors and innovative finance strategies for nonprofits.

C-Significant fund raising experience in a senior leadership position; proven track record of soliciting and securing individual gifts. Knowledge of endowment campaigns.

D-Experience building and managing fund raising plans, systems, processes and strategies and supporting the board, executive leadership, and staff in effective implementation of the plan.

E-Results-driven approach to fund raising; ability to set concrete goals and achieve them.

F-Ability to access and develop strategic relationships with influential individuals and organizations at the local, state and national level.

G- Skilled negotiator with the ability to craft fair agreements and partnerships for MAP.
