WHO: The annual Garden Party is the signature event for the Community Foundation and is open to the public. At this event the Foundation publicly recognizes the community service and contributions of local citizens while sharing information about the Foundation and the hundreds of organizations and programs supported by and through its 525 charitable funds. With the generous support of our sponsors, supporters and guests, all net proceeds from this annual Garden Party support the Community Foundation’s efforts to promote philanthropy in Dutchess, Ulster and Putnam counties, and provide much needed funding to support local nonprofit organizations.

SHIFTS: 1:30-3:30pm & 3:30-6:30pm

JOB: Assist with directing parking and helping direct attendees to & from multiple lots to the event (12 people needed)

DETAILS: Breaks, water and refreshments will be provided. An orientation at the beginning of each shift. Ask or look for Beth when you arrive, who will be there helping out. This is a somewhat formal event, so please dress accordingly, particularly if helping with registration (but it is an outdoor event, so sensible shoes are encouraged).

Ulstercorps is a county-wide volunteer resource organization working with individual agencies to encourage volunteer use, facilitate successful volunteer placements, and nurture collaborations among agencies. Ulstercorps is committed to fostering a spirit of service among the community's youth and includes youth representation in its leadership. Ulstercorps collaborates with service organizations, schools, religious organizations and other nonprofit agencies as well as with business volunteer programs.

Description

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES - UlsterCorps provides a centralized, easy to use and up-to-date clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities throughout Ulster County including descriptions of skills, knowledge and time commitment needed; contact information; wish lists, and special events notifications. NONPROFIT AGENCY SUPPORT - Ulstercorps responds to emergency, short- and long-term volunteer needs of local organizations by posting descriptions of requested volunteer assistance on its website and by contacting specific volunteers already registered with Ulstercorps' skills bank who have the needed skills. STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY - UlsterCorps' web site and blog provide an interactive forum where members of the community can find opportunities to help out, explore a calendar of events, post specific needs and share their experiences with the programs and agencies for which they have volunteered. OUTREACH - UlsterCorps is prepared to assist in new laudable nonprofit programs and projects in Ulster County by disseminating information, assisting in identifying viable and valuable prospective collaborators, and recruiting needed volunteers.
