Science Interpretation Program volunteers play a pivotal role for our guests and staff by providing superior customer service, operational assistance, school group support, and skilled science interpretation. After volunteering for 6-months, Science Interpretation Program volunteers may be invited to volunteer in other capacities - including high level science interpretation delivery, program and content development, or advanced operational support.

Job Duties

  • Learn about Science Center educational offerings and share this knowledge with guests
  • Foster a welcoming environment for guests and proactively assist guests with directional and informational questions
  • Support key daily operational procedures (ex: using walkie-talkies, line-control, assisting with lost parties, etc.)
  • Assist Science Educator staff with school group greeting and way-finding
  • Provide superior customer service and science interpretation at key locations including Puget Sound Saltwater Tide Pool, Tropical Butterfly House entrance, and travelling exhibits (when applicable)

Requirements & Commitment

  • Must be at least 18
  • 1 shift every two weeks, 4.5 hours/shift
  • 3 to 6 month commitment preferred
