The Y in Central Maryland's Annual Thanksgiving Morning Turkey Trot Charity 5K is a family event that raises urgently needed funds to support children and families in Central Maryland. We have a total of seven 5k's across the region: Baltimore City, Arnold, Bel Air, Ellicott City, Towson, Westminister, and Perry Hall.
These families and children are living at or below the federal poverty level and cannot afford experiences available to many children including, a quality preschool education, summer camps and after-school activities that keep children safe and healthy.
The Y serves thousands of children and families in the region and each year the demand for financial aid for Y youth programs grows. With your generous support, we will be able to help those families throughout Central Maryland who depend on the Y to remove income as a barrier to opportunity for their children .
We have a variety of opportunities on Thanksgiving morning, ranging from the following:
- Volunteer Coordinator
- Set-up
- Race registration
- Packet Pick-up
- Food/Beverage Table
- Course Post
- Mile Sign Holder
- Water Station
- Walkers/Runner
- Clean-up/Breakdown
- Odd Job Runner
- Finish Line Assistant
- Photographer
- DJ
- Parking/Traffic Attendant

Operate at hundreds of Y sites and community locations throughout Central Maryland we impact hundreds of thousands of community members. Through grant funded programs and Y Financial Assistance scholarships made possible through generous community donations, thousands of youth who are financially vulnerable and their families are given the same fair chance to thrive in school and in life that each of us needs and deserves.
